Intermediate Composition (ENGL 2089) is a writing-intensive course designed to deepen and expand upon the foundational skills developed over years of writing. It focuses on exploring how meaning is interpreted within and across different discourse communities and genres. The course emphasizes the importance of rhetorical awareness and aims to strengthen students' abilities in critical reading, advanced research, and analytical writing. A key component of the course is engaging students in significant research-based projects, including both primary research and source analysis, with an emphasis on documenting and reflecting upon their processes and findings.

Through ENGL 2089, I have developed the ability to analyze various discourse communities and understand how those groups through specific genres and writing conventions. I have also learned to produce writing in diverse genres that reflect a nuanced understanding of audience, purpose, and context. Collaborative drafting and revising processes are introduced and practiced to support more effective writing development.

ENGL 2089 equipped me with the skills necessary for effective, audience-aware communication and helped to prepare me to navigate complex rhetorical situations in various real-world settings.
